Good morning everybody. Respected teachers, all past presidents,
all my executive members, honored seniors, contemporaries,
all junior members, my all office staffs and others.

Dear Colleagues,
This is the last edition of our newsletter edited by me.
I take this opportunity to thank you profusely for the love and
encouragement as well as valued criticism bestowed upon me.
It has enabled me to work efficiently for our Association. I assure
you that I will continue to work for the advancement of our
Association.
Our incoming President Dr. Protyush Chatterjee is very dynamic
and proactive. I have found him to be very pragmatic and rational.
Under his leadership we are bound to progress further.
The President-Elect Dr. Madan Mohan Roy has innovative ideas
which he implements uniquely. Dr Amit Guha the next Honorary
Secretary is also very hard working.
The inaugural function of our new office at 102/3A Dr. Suresh
Chandra Banerjee Road (Beliaghata Main Road) Kolkata 700010
was held on 21st March 2010. The new office has dedicated
areas for library and seminar room.
It was a big family get-together. Most of our Past Presidents and
Secretaries along with a good number of members were present.
Even Dr. Nirmal Ghosh came all the way from Malda to attend the
function. The anecdotes and inspiring real life reflections by seniors
were very much appreciated. Their feelings inspired a sense of
togetherness.
Drs. Arun Kumar Das, Sailendra Bhattacharya, M. S. Ghosh and
all others said in one tone that feeling of fellowship is the soul of
our organization, any under current feeling is harmful to the cause.
Sir, I can assure you that same feelings are nurtured by all the
members of our association. Such sense of belonging to one family
has helped us to remain united and has kept us far away from ill
feelings. I have always felt here as member of a large united family.
With your blessings on our side, we will carry yourfeelings in the
times to come.
Dr. Golokbihari Maji, President, spoke in brief about his tenure and
his satisfactory completion of the term. During his period the new
office took the final shape.
Dr. Indrajit Sardar, Vice President with his usual charisma tailored
the history of Orthopaedics in Bengal. His lucid PowerPoint
presentation laced with some rare photographs, great oratory
prowess and rich vocabulary kept everybody spell bound.
The fine arrangements made by Dr. Anjan Pan needs special thanks.
Everybody enjoyed the lunch to satisfaction. In the President-Elect
Dr. Protyush Chatterjee's words "SABAI KABJI DUBIYE KHABE".
The President's Gold medal examinations were conducted smoothly.
The enthusiasm of the Post Graduate students was high. The classes
were successfully held at different hospitals and the examinations
were conducted at NRS Medical College for MS and at CNMC
for D. Orth. candidates. The results would be declared in due course.
I take this opportunity to thank you for giving me the privilege to
serve our august association as Honorary Secretary. I must thank
Dr. Dipak Sarbadhikari who brought me in the folds of WBOA during
his year as President. I hope I have fared well to his expectations.
I must thank all the past Presidents and Honorary Secretaries for
the help and support they gave me in serving the association.
I must confess that I have enjoyed every moment of my time
spent here. It has helped me in making great friends and in
developing fellowship among my professional colleagues.
To err is human. I might have erred on occasions. I request our
family to be gracious enough to pardon me for any lapses which
might have occurred. It had been my efforts to learn from mistakes.
I sincerely thank you once again.
I welcome the new Executive Committee which took charge on
24th March 2010 after the last executive committee meeting
chaired by Dr Golokbihari Maji. The President's collar was handed
over to Dr. Pryotush Chatterjee.
I wish the new executive committee a very successful and
progressive time ahead. The Association marches forward with
every one's support and vision.

Ref: Inauguration of the WBOA office at Beliaghata.
Dear friends,
With God's grace today we have a new office for the West Bengal
Orthopaedic Association. I must appreciate the effort of the
President, Secretary and the executive committee of WBOA for
their initiative to materialize this venture.
My special appreciations will be for Dr. M.S. Ghosh for his leadership
and also the building committee for their management and Dr. Tapan
Maitra for finding out and helping to procure this central location
for the office. I must thank Dr. Anjan Pan for his untiring effort for
months to decorate the office according to the
need and arrangement most suitable for the purpose.
I feel proud of all of you, particularly Dr. Lakhotia. I could see the
change he brought after his taking charge as the Secretary. He
enlivened theAssociation by his inner vision and character.
If I have to express my gratitude to a single person - he was Late
Dr. R.N. Mitra, the pioneer scoliosis surgeon of India. West Bengal
Orthopaedic Association was the dream of Dr. Mitra and Dr. Ashim
Mukherjee, whose efforts were never recognized. I used to call
him Rathinda, my partner for exploring USA in 1953.He inspired me,
Prof. A. K. Das, Prof. A. K. Saha and Prof. K. Sarbadhikari and all
other contemporaries for holding clinical meetings and conferences.
Of course, the top level was Late Prof. M. L. Chatterjee
(Ex. President of IOA) and Prof. Ashim Mukherjee, (well known
master for making the rules), Prof. A.K, Das and Dr. M.S. Ghosh
for gave shape to these ideas by their capability in the management.
I just followed them.
I have a few suggestions to commemorate those persons whose
dream has come true today.
• The Lecture Hall should be named after Dr. R N Mitra.
• The Library should be in the name of Dr. Ashim Mukherjee.
• The list of past Presidents and Secretaries should be hung
on the wall,
• If you all feel, then photographs of our past Presidents can also
hung be on the walls.
Let us rejoice and take the determination to uplift the Orthopaedic
services for our common people, according to their needs in a cost
effective way, honestly and legitimately.

My dear Dr. Lakhotia,
You have been holding WBOA in good shape during the last 3 years.
Secretary's job is a thankless one. Nobody appreciates a Secretary
when he does something right; but when anything goes wrong, may
be due to the Secretary's fault, or someone else's, everybody aims
his gun towards the Secretary. But at the end of the day, you get
an appreciation, like you are getting here.
I appreciate your many qualities, and hope you will be greatly
relieved after relinquishing the charge. Have a good time at home,
but be at our disposal whenever asked to.
